What are the luminaire requirements for DALI systems?
DALI systems have requirements for the LED driver — the driver must comply with the DALI protocol standard. Luminaires are simply required to select an appropriate DALI driver according to their own electrical parameters. Note:
① Although the DALI Alliance does not offer certification for luminaires, luminaires using DALI-based components are permitted to use the trademark, provided that:
A: To use the trademark, the luminaire supplier must be a member of the DALI Alliance (luminaire companies can register for free Community membership).
B: All components in the luminaire are DALI-2 certified. This means all components with IEC 62386 standard series interfaces that can be tested individually have passed DALI-2 certification and are listed on the DiiA website.
② Notes on Using the DALI-2 Mark in ODM/OEM Scenarios
The company whose name or brand appears on the product is responsible for certifying or registering each product, not the company that designs or manufactures it. For example: Lifud produces an LED driver and obtains certification under the “Lifud” brand on the DiiA website. Lifud then supplies this product to customer “Y”, who requests that the “Y” brand name be used on the driver. For trademark purposes, this driver is considered two different products. To allow use of the trademark, customer “Y” (who needs to join as a paid member) must submit the product for certification under the new brand. Only the preamble and product GTIN tests need to be performed.
