DALI System Components: Control Devices, Control Gear, Bus Power Supply
① System Components

② Minimum DALI System Unit
1 control device + 1 control gear + 1 bus power supply + 2 signal wires.
Example: 1 DALI rotary/panel + 1 DALI LED driver + 1 bus power supply + 2 signal wires.
③ Control Devices
The “leaders” in a DALI system — products that can actively send DALI command signals.
Common Control Devices:
1. DALI Master: Primarily used for configuring, querying, and controlling DALI control gear (LED drivers). For example, it can assign addresses, set up groups and scenes for DALI LED drivers, and send control commands.
2. DALI Control Panel: Includes rotary dimmers, touch dimmers, reset switch + dry contact combinations, etc. They can control DALI control gear for dimming, color tuning, and scene changes (custom scenes are programmed via the master and can be removed afterward).
3. DALI Sensor: Receives external environmental information and, based on backend settings, controls DALI control gear to make corresponding adjustments when environmental conditions change.
④ Control Gear
The “executors” in a DALI system — responsible for receiving and executing commands. They do not actively send signals, and only transmit response signals when requested by a control device to provide feedback.
Common Products:
1. DALI LED Driver: Receives DALI dimming, color tuning, and other commands, and adjusts output current and voltage accordingly to produce corresponding lighting changes.
2. DALI Converter: Receives DALI commands and converts them into other signals such as 0-10V, TRIAC, or Zigbee, enabling non-DALI devices to execute DALI instructions.
3. DALI Relay: Accepts DALI commands to integrate non-dimmable luminaires into the DALI system and control their on/off operations.
⑤ Bus Power Supply
The “signal carrier” in a DALI system — it powers the DALI signal line, providing the energy needed for DALI signals to transmit between devices.
Details: Typically provides a signal voltage of 16V and signal current of 250mA. Some DALI masters have an integrated bus power supply; if this type of master is used as the control device, a separate bus power supply is not required.
⑥ Bus (Signal Line)
A two-wire connection used for both power supply and communication.
